Love In the Time of Horror

The world is ending, and while we all know it and feel it, the ability to express it is not in our bones, much less on our tongues.

We don’t even have the words to say to ourselves what we are seeing and feeling, much less possess the idea to communicate such to anybody else.

If you are conscious or “woke,” you will notice the cyclical patterns of the news cycles, their nonsensical scare tactics and their forced attempts to give a damn — and if you love reality TV like me — or even if you only stick your nose in the news cycle every once in a while, you will have noticed something come up about obvious changes in people’s bodies, whether it’s in the face, the neck or something else much further down below — and for someone like me — i.e., a realist and non-conformist — I am fascinated and intrigued by these truths, even as I am disgusted by their uselessness in the grand scheme of things for society and America.

Even as the world seems to spiral out of control, we are regularly being fed stories of celebrities’ miniscule lives, their nip/tuck errors/woes/clandestine operations, and we are all seemingly supposed to pretend that everything is alright with the world amidst the rotation of these foolish diatribes.

What is more, as the calls for “bringing New York back” ring hollow to me, I wonder how American leaders, pundits and journalists alike can be so daft as to think that the work is to revert to the old.

So much has been wrong for so long, and so much has been set free, can’t you see that the people are not having it anymore?

No more sitting on their heads! No more turning a deaf ear. No more false promises.

The ONLY way for New York and America alike to achieve the success that it starves itself for is through fairness, unified governance, and a righting of the scales that balance our needs for basic necessities.

How can governor Hochul lead when judges feel that they have to go against her?

Why must we waste money on litigation?

Why are laws sensible one minute and then overturned the next?

Is it because she is a female leader?

This is a rhetorical question.

Of course, my experience HAS BEEN that being female in this country, (and this state) means that you are met with vehement opposition whenever you seek to carry out some large-scale governance, or when you seem to take your position seriously and you go into it with gusto.

Everyone gets their panties in a bunch!

There was a recent headline that noted that there are more countries now with deaths than births than ever before — which is a clear indication to me that the world simply needs more LOVE — and yet, we have people in positions of power who choose to do evil rather than good — which must be for selfish reasons.

I do not know how the governor, the judge and the people do not see the needs for all of us to come together to reduce our collective suffering.

HOW?

What have you done, America, that makes your populous so numb?

As an outsider looking in, I have marveled at the sheer disregard for life and the future, in this country.

It seems that everyone’s trying to save themselves, not realizing that we will all succumb together with these facts: No one can escape the law.

Not the laws of man, that are obviously wishy-washy.

The laws of God, which govern the earth from heretofore to hence; what happens to one, will seriously affect us all, and COVID has proven that it can clutch us by the neck and squeeze, and hold on for a mighty long time.

And with rules like ours, Covid will decimate us before we see the need to apply simple and basic common sense.

But, if Covid doesn’t do the job, the rest of us will slice and dice ourselves into oblivion trying to look cool, and seem right in the world.

I sit and await the culmination of this riveting duet.

Dare I say in horror?
